Have you ever seen the video called 'Kony 2012'? It became a huge issue in our society and it was watched by more than ten million viewers. Kony 2012 is a viral video, a short movie to make Kony popular. Director of this film met 'Jacob' who was one of the children kidnapped by Kony and became a children soldier in army of kony's 8 years ago and he made this film to help Jacob and other children. He worked for 8 or 9 years on Facebook and now finally many facebook users and social networking people were shocked and started to react. Then, they made a facebook community to protect kids and make him popular. To tell how cruel kony is and how he kidnapped not just 20 or something, he kidnapped over 30000 kids. Also he made them kill their own parents just to maintain his power. This film is of good purpose. However, I think it's not and this project is not proper for solving the problem.
First argument is about money. In this video, he want people to donate some money to 'help kids' and more than 8 million people believed him and donated their money to 'help kids' who were in trouble. Though many people contributed their money for 'KIDS', the leader of this project only sent 30% of contributed money to Uganda. Many people predicts that other 70% of money of money is used for his personal things or other stupid UCC he made. Other video was for advertising and it's kind of music video of their song. They used so many people to make it, even if it is not an essential part of it, they wasted so much money and they didn't use it in a useful way.
Second argument is the mental stress they can get while they are directing, planning and going in action, many people will get serious psychological stress. Some of you guys will probably think it's not true and is just a prediction. However, it really happened. There are 3 men who made and led them, and one man got crazy and got some metal disease. It is possible, so it can be very dangerous to all volunteers who are participating this programme. Because of so many hard working and it is not easy to figure out. They can have red light on their psychological health.
Last argument is that this plan is not really helpful to them and is just wasting their precious time. Do you know where this event happened? It happened in Uganda, but Uganda is a pretty safe place. In addition, I really need to say it that he is not in Uganda at all and also we don't know he is still working or not. He might be still working, he might NOT. If he stopped these things already, they will make such a huge loss. Also, Kony problem is not really serious, if there are enough money and time to invest you'd better to use these things to other problem which is a more severe problem in Africa.
To wrap up, even 'Kony 2012' is for good purpose, it's not really helpful to avoid kid from danger and you should consider cautiously that it can be really advantageous to children. Please think carefully. Also, kony problem is not really serious so donating money can't be used in a useful way.
